1966 Mustang:Swapping a Cruise-O-Matic for an AOD.?

you can use your drive shaft, but i would take it to a shop to be cut/welded and balanced, otherwise you will mess up the transmission and rear end,you can put the aod only on a 5.0 w or a 5.8 w,the yoke might not be the same size as the drive shaft so you will have 2 sizes of caps for the u-joint, the only way to make sure the transmission mount will bolt up is to put the transmission on ,then see where the mount is going to end up, you might have to do some welding on the cross member ..but all is possible with a little engineering and a welder
