Why does my GPU performance drop?

Well here is one thing you can try. Keep the laptop's air vents open and nothing blocking it. If that helps a bit then point a fan of any size towards the air vent and put the fan on medium. Sure it'll be a bit cool for you when playing, but it help my laptop to stay cold. Let me know if it works for you.
